Ever look at a Kitchen and say “that’s got to go!”? At MAK Designs we primarily focus on soft home furnishings. But, from time to time, we take on remodeling projects. This project is a kitchen in a 1970’s triplex. On the initial visit we all said “that’s got to go!”. Referring to the 4′ x 6′ boxed fluorescent light, 7′ ceiling, cabinets, appliances. Well, basically everything had to go. The client was nervous but, unhesitatingly, gave us the go ahead. We’ve had a few surprises along the way but we are progressing nicely. Ever wonder how to put a top treatment on a swing door? There is a way! Thanks to James Fuller of House to Home Window Coverings for installing our swing door valance. This mechanism allows the door to open and close without disturbing the treatment. In a situation like this one, it is now possible to hang all the window and door treatments at the same height.
